by Jared Kidd The Delone Catholic International Club hosted its annual International Dinner on April 10, 2019. This event is organized by club members and advisor Dr. Barb Wert to celebrate diversity and culture at Delone Catholic. The cafeteria is transformed in a multi-cultural dining experience including decorations and a guest speaker . There were a myriad of different foods including dishes from Chin a, Spain, Hungary, and Germany such dumplings, sushi, Hungarian goulash, and various rice and meat recipes .    “I really enjoy bringing together all of us through thi s exchange of food and culture,” explained William Zhang, a senior international student from China. “ It is also a good time to eat lots of yummy food.” The decorations for the dinner were all traditional Chinese adornments . And students come back changed. These students undergo a spiritual journey with their fellow classmates . In “God’s Time” you can find the presence of God in your life and strengthen that bo nd. Mrs. Katherine Phenicie , Delone Catholic Spiritual Life D irector, started this retreat ten years ago when she came to Delone . Her own experience at a Kairos retrea t inspired her to continue it here. “ When I was a Sophomore at Mount St. Mary's I attended their Kairos retreat, an d it was really powerful for me,” explained Mrs. Phenicie . “ I knew that I wanted to bring that same experience here when I became the Director of Spiritual Life, so that our students could have a similarly powerful experience.” Over these ten years, Phenicie has seen an increase in participation of Spiritual Life events a...

by Peyton Horak As many of you know, Delone Catholic has recently gained a new vice principal, Mrs. Donna Tompkins. Prior to her current position, she was a geometry teacher for 28 years. After earning her Administrative Certificate within the last ten years, an opportunity became available for her to put her Administrative Degree to use. Some of her former students are now currently her colleagues at Delone Catholic , including Jennifer Noel, D avid Staub , Beth Sneeringer .  When they went on to become teachers, a friendship came about among the faculty, including Mrs. Tompkins. “One thing that is different from teaching is the fact of me being a boss to my friends”. This was a hard transition for her due to the different responsibilities of a teacher compared to those of a Vice Principal . “ Everyday is different , ” Mrs. Tompkins commented in regards to still learning the ins and outs of her new position.
