Spiritual Life Offers Wealth of Opportunities

by Gracie Wildasin '23

As a senior, I have thoroughly enjoyed my past two years being involved in Spiritual Life. It is a great community to be a part of and has brought so much joy to my life.

Spiritual Life has so much to offer and so many ways that anyone can get involved. A big part of Spiritual Life is participating in Kairos retreats, being involved in Peer Ministry, helping with set up and readings at school masses, and taking fun trips throughout the year such as the Pink Sisters trip and annual March For Life trip.

I have personally been lucky enough to participate in each of these activities, and I have to say that I enjoyed every single one of them as they each are fun and unique experiences in their own way.

A few female students who are involved in Peer Ministry, as well as Mrs. Phenicie and Ms. Noel, attend a vocation trip each year in order to visit the Convent of Divine Love in Philadelphia, home to the Pink Sisters.  This order of Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters are cloistered and devote their daily life to prayer and adoration.

We were also able to visit with Sister Helen David Brancato, an IHM Sister and artist at her studio in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Her lifetime of art focuses on social justice issues, particularly concerning the poor. She walked the gallery with us and explained some of her most notable pieces.

This day-long trip is so much fun as we have the opportunity to explore the city, but it was also such a rewarding experience being able to witness the everyday sacrifices that the Pink Sisters make in order to offer up their love to God in such a profound way. It was truly inspiring to see their devotion to the Lord while also getting to chat with some of them and even join in their worship during a short prayer service.

Kairos retreats are another amazing opportunity offered through Spiritual Life. I can honestly say that being able to be both a participant as well as a leader on a Kairos retreat has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to grow in my relationship with God through these retreats and have even made some amazing new friends along the way.

I will forever be grateful for all that Mrs. Phenicie and Spiritual Life have done for me during my years at Delone Catholic.
